Established in 1892, Port of Qingdao consists of 4 areas: Qingdao old port area, Huangdao oil port area, Qianwan new port area, and Dongjiakou port area. Port of Qingdao is capable of accommodating the largest vessels in the world equipped with the world’s largest container terminal for 12,000-15,000TEU vessels. Port of Qingdao has always been a pioneer in world port development, promoting the establishment of the convenient, safe, economic and efficient transport system in China.

 
With a total throughput of 400 million tons and container volume of 14.5 million TEU in 2012, Port of Qingdao is ranked world’s 7th largest port. It is the world’s largest port for inbound iron ore, China’s largest port for inbound crude oil, and China’s 2nd largest port for foreign trade. It boasts the world’s highest productivity for container handling and iron ore discharging. With 1.3% of China’s total quay length, the port handles 6.9% of the country’s total throughput, establishing an efficient, innovative, and green development pattern. It is the World’s Superlative Enterprise in Energy Conservation and Environment Protection, and is among China’s first Environment-Friendly Enterprises.

 
Collaborating with A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, DP World, APL, COSCO, China Merchants Group, Pan-Asia International Holdings, and SITC International Holdings, Qingdao Port Group forged the world-class container terminal joint venture of “8 partners from 4 countries”.

  
For the development of Dongjiakou Port Area, Qingdao Port Group establishes strategic alliances with Sinopec Group, COSCO, China Merchants Group, China Huaneng Group, SDSC, IMC Group, Mercuria Energy Group, and Royal Vopak to build a new port with annual throughput of 300 million tons, which consists of a number of world-class deep-water terminals for iron ore, coal, crude oil and is equipped with comprehensive functions of port logistics, processing, bonded services, storage, trading, information, finance, etc. Dongjiakou port area will be established as the trading base for bulk cargo, and the center of shipping, logistics and information.
