Port of Tanjung Perak

Tanjung Perak is the port of Surabaya and principal port in East Java. In Indonesia, it is the second largest port next to Port of Tanjung Priok at capital Jakarta. The position is between 112 43'22"east longitude and 07 11'54"south longitude. It is located in the strait of Madura, to the north of city of Surabaya. The port is therefore the maritime transportation hub for the eastern region of Indonesia, servicing both International and Interisland shipping in the region. Port of Tanjung Perak has contributed greatly to the economic development of the Eastern Indonesian region-influencing the growth of trade and development in East Java with working for ability strengthening to advance reclamation and plant and/or equipment investment. The physical development of the port has continued to present day, with modification of existing berths, and provision of additional berths specifically designed for container handling operations. In addition, the Port Authority has been responsible for encouragement of development of associated port industries, and the construction of the passenger terminal, and continues to upgrade and improve both facilities and services to meet demand.As the national policy, expanding product export and aiming at the breakaway from petroleum / natural gas dependence.
