FOREWORD
The next Nankai Earthquake is expected to strike before 2050 and if it does,
Kochi is expected to suffer extensive damage.
The aim of this pamphlet is to teach you about earthquakes and how to protect
the lives of yourself and your family from the effects of earthquakes and
tsunami (seismic waves). My aim in producing this book is to prepare as many
people as possible for the Nankai Earthquake.
This pamphlet was produced with the help of many people. I would especially
like to mention Dr. Noriaki Kawata of Kyoto University and Dr. Fumihiko
Imamura of Tohoku University who advised me and gave a great deal to the
production of the booklet. Thank you very much.
